Pediatric Occupational Therapy

Pediatric occupational therapy (OT) is a specialized type of therapy that focuses on improving a child’s ability to perform daily activities and tasks. Occupational therapists and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) work with children to assess their abilities and develop a personalized treatment plan to improve their motor skills, sensory processing, and self-care abilities.

At Schie Speech, our team of certified occupational therapists and COTAs is dedicated to helping children achieve their full potential. We work with children who have a wide range of motor and sensory difficulties, including difficulties with fine motor skills, gross motor skills, handwriting, sensory processing, and self-care activities.

Our therapy sessions are designed to be fun and engaging, with activities and games that help your child develop their motor and sensory abilities. We use evidence-based techniques to help your child improve their hand-eye coordination, balance, strength, and sensory processing abilities.

Examples of OT include:

  • Strengthening muscles for tummy time and crawling preparations
  • Using fingers to pick up foods to self-feed
  • Learning how to understand our emotions for new situations
  • Muscle training for the use of utensils needed eating and writing
  • Identifying ways to calm and regulate using a variety of sensory techniques

In addition to occupational therapy, we also offer speech therapy and feeding therapy to support your child’s overall development and well-being.
